I asked Ray Franz about this film when I visited with him. He regretted doing it once he saw how the editing was done.
Thats interesting - I'm glad he said that, as I had the same feeling about it.
The information was good, but the editing was bad.
Plus, they should have definitely steered clear of their own preaching work towards the end.

Tell the elders you are depressed, ditch the door to door work and slowly stop attending meetings. Stop answering your phone and door for a few months and that should just about do it.
The internal kingdom hall gossip network will do the rest. You will likely be viewed as weak or an evil apostate

i have a friend who has just started seeing a boyfriend who is also a spiritualist; they have talked about his beliefs as such but she seems quite interested in it all.. i dont know enough to dismiss it or otherwise but has anyone else on the board had any experiences of the spiritualist church.. what are they about, what do they believe and how are they organised.. hope you can help.. db74
Personally, I'd avoid, avoid, avoid.
A friend of mine was also interested and was told that the meetings were based in a church building and there would be a medium present.
I still believe in malevolent spirits, so I use my common sense and avoid contact with invisible entities where possible.
let's suppose that a large number of ex jws decided to get together and set up a new religious entity to provide any spiritual benefits, that were provided by the wts but as we all know in an exploitative and destructive way.
in a devious way much bitterness was added to whatever benefit they gave.
what would your suggestions be in the way of forming such an entity?
Rather than the appeal to a new religion, I am attracted by the idea of house churches to some extent, and a serious focus on the Bible itself. But even there, it can deviate into manmade thinking and that nearly always leads to oppression of some sort, or manipulation into a mold.
Yep - I like the idea of small groups in houses (minus the book study ritual !!!!)
The religion of taking personal responsibility for ones actions appeals to me.

ever wonder why the od book is provided to jw "publishers" only and not included on the wt library cd?.
could you imagine what the general public would do with the ability to quote df/da procedure, field service reporting rules, baptism questions, contribution policy, organization hierarcy, and fds authority statements directly from the jw manual?.
They should have put a copyright notice on the Bible and made it a secret society only publication
Truth should be freely available to all - it bugs the hell out of me when people restrict access to information.
the more the governing body warns about the dangers of the internet the worse it gets.
i think they are going to keep going in the direction of more and more warnings until everybody in jwsville sees the light.
Don't be so sure... I have a JW wanna-be friend (well, friend when he chooses to grant me pardon) and he bangs on about the internet and how evil it is.
This guy is trying to get back to the hall after having been slung out over 2 years ago and pretty much toes the party line as far as anti internet rhetoric is concerned.
Pathetic really and exhausting trying to explain that the internet is simply a collection of thoughts expressed through a different form of media.
The hypocrisy being - I am asked by this particular person to order stuff and research stuff on a semi-regular basis using the internet.
The only time the internet comes under attack is obvious - when it does not agree with the WTBTS, it then becomes a demonic resource.
